Foodservice: The Next Frontier

While strong retail results are important, retail is only half of the picture. Americans continue to eat more and more of their meals outside the home – in fact, consumer spending on foodservice is poised to eclipse retail food purchases within the next ten years.

The growth of foodservice should be good news for producers of Natural & Organic products. After all, the high-income families that account for the lion's share of foodservice spending also buy the most Natural & Organic products at retail. But the fact of the matter is that Natural & Organic manufacturers are missing out on the growth of the foodservice market, because they have very little presence in foodservice.
